SCHECHTL is one of the leading producers of shears and folding machines for sheet metal working. More than 45000 sold machines world-wide speak for themselves.

In 1910 the blacksmith Josef Schechtl started his own business as a blacksmith in Rosshart near Edling. In 1932 he invented the first Schechtl Folding Machine, Model KS1. It consisted of two rails and a welded steel and worked so well, that soon every craftsman knew about it. Soon afterwards the first plate shear - Model SJS - followed and a new successful engineering enterprise was started.

His son, Josef Schechtl jr., the eldest of nine children, took over the parental factory and re-deployed it to Edling at its present location in 1955. Soon a remarkable story of success began.

Alois Schechtl, his son and owner, enlarged the product line with motor-operated folding machines and plate shears and the business was lead to its present world-wide activities. Meanwhile over 100 employees and sell more than 2000 machines each year.
